IFBA Returns to Sweet Home Chicago

With the IFBA Top to Top Business Conference taking place in Chicago just two weeks from now, it seems appropriate to spend some time on the Independent Food Broker Division (IFBA) of NARMS. On May 19-21, food brokers and marketing agencies from all over the U.S. and Canada will converge for the sixth annual event held once again at the Wyndham Chicago. The three day conference brings together brokers and manufacturers for networking opportunities, business to business meetings and educational opportunities.

Registration for the event is still open. There are rates for IFBA members, NARMS member manufacturers, associate members, non-member manufacturers and non-member brokers. You can find out more by visiting the conference center on www.narms.com.

So what are IFBA members? They are a blue ribbon collection of independent food brokers from around North America. They come in all shapes and sizes but in general they represent various brands and lines in all categories with an emphasis on local and regional food marketing expertise. In addition to sales, these companies also provide at-retail merchandising and marketing support.

The Top to Top Executive Conference provides a forum in which brokers can discuss various aspects of their business with other brokers, hold national sales meetings with manufacturers, and be introduced to business building market perspectives from industry experts. The conference originally took place just prior to the FMI conference, and followed that show to Las Vegas last year. After hearing overwhelming support, the IFBA has decided to return to its roots in the Windy City in 2009.

Highlighting this year’s agenda is an exciting panel discussion called,” The Hispanic Market: Where It Was, Where It Is Today & Where It Will Be Tomorrow?” Chris del Rey of Del Rey Marketing and Entertainment will facilitate a panel consisting of Enrique Gonzalez of Vallarta Supermarkets, Jamey Fish of Hellmann’s and Best Foods Mayonnaise, Joy Mead of Procter & Gamble, and Carlos Alvarez of Spanish Radio Station KLVE in Los Angeles. It’s sure to be a lively and enlightening event.
