Merchandising Proficiency Training

Introduction
Welcome to the fulfilling career of retail merchandising

Merchandising is presenting products in their best light to generate more sales. Whether you are buying at a Target, Kohl’s, Dollar Store, home centers, supermarkets, or toy stores, chances are your buying decision has been influenced by the way the products were merchandised.

Your position as a Merchandiser will be both rewarding and challenging. In your role, you will be expected to help major manufacturing and retail companies present their product to the best advantage in the retail environment. The expertise and experience of good, qualified merchandisers provides the framework for customer satisfaction and the commitment to quality.

Merchandising is not a hobby but a professional career choice. As in other professions, those who continue to improve their abilities and develop more proficient skills to perform the necessary work will be rewarded with advancement opportunities and increased compensation.

Therefore, the NARMS Leadership has developed an On-Line Merchandiser Proficiency testing system. This tool will allow NARMS members to identify those merchandisers who are striving to “stand out” in a crowded merchandiser field.
